"A Proposal to Upgrade the Overall Tabulation and Updating System of NDMU University Week"
Project Overview:
Notre Dame of Marbel University
is conducting University Week yearly every month of September. In line with
this the five colleges Arts and Sciences, Business Administration, Education,
Engineering and Technology; and Health and Sciences are competing in the
different events initiated by the Supreme Student Government (SSG). The events
are classified into indoor, outdoor, other events socio-cultural, academic and
literary; and Mr. and Ms. University. Each event has a corresponding no. of
gold for the champion. If the said event would reward four gold for the winner
the preceding ranks will receive four silver, four bronze, four copper and four
tin. Accordingly three silver is equal to one gold; three bronze is equal to
one silver; three copper is equal to one bronze and three tin is equal to one
copper. The college with the most number of gold received is declared to be the
overall champion of the competition.
The tabulation of the results in
different events as well as the overall ranking of the five colleges is in
charge by the Student Commission on Audit (SCOA). They gathered judges’ scheme and manually
solve it to come up with the result of a particular event. The result then is
presented to the SSG Event Committee Heads for them to announce and update the
overall ranking through posting a printed sheet of paper in front of San
Lorenzo Ruiz building.
Statement
of the Problem
The existing tabulation being
adapted by the SCOA is error prone due to human limitations and doesn’t provide
efficient result since it is done manually. On the other hand the manual
updating system of SSG cost a lot of paper and time consuming process.
Objectives
To deal with such delayed
updating process and insufficient result the proponents aim to upgrade the
updating system of the SSG to provide more efficient and reliable result of the
competition. Through the improved updating and overall tabulation system,
instead of a printed sheet of paper the SSG will only need to provide a DLP (Digital
Light Processing) to view the results.
It will also minimize SCOA’s tabulation duty since they will only need
to focus on the tabulation of different events and will prevent human errors.

*The
system is develop using the Java Hibernate Technology and under development
process, please bear with the GUI designs I know it needs a lot of improvement.
Hopefully the system will be implemented in our school.
